For a while on my blog 15th Century Spinning I did “Picture Friday” where I posted a new picture each friday. I thought for this blog I’d do “Picture Wednesday” with some of my inspiration images for my new 15th century wardrobe.
Fist up, is:
1491, MEMLING, Hans, Passion (Greverade) Altarpiece (detail), Museum für Kunst- und Kulturgedichte, Lübeck.
I really love this detail, there is so much to look at I love the cut of the pale green kirtle in the middle and her belt, the brocade kirtle to the right with the pin-on sleeves in red (red pin-on sleeves are in my future), a red open hood is also in my future (working on the practice one in blue right now) and how can one forget the frilly veils.
Hans Memling is one of my favourite inspirations too! Sooooo many fantastic details 🙂

I absolutely love frilly veils – and the later 15th century ones are so different from the earlier goffered vails!! Rachel Odgers and I are both determined to make one!

I’ll be excited to see them!
